I think I’ve said it before on this blog somewhere that Swingers was what made me a Vince Vaughn fan.  Yes, yes, yes despite my fiercely independent exterior, I have a thing for big guys like Vince Vaughn who can possibly lift me in one swoop 😉  Hmm … come to think of it, that’s probably why Optimus does it for me too.

Anyway, I digress, Couples Retreat, not only stars Vince Vaughn but he actually wrote it too.  With long time friend and partner-in-crime, Jon Favreau, which to me is a little funny that two man’s men like the two of them can write about relationships and marriage.  Goes to show that every guy has a sweet sensitive core too 🙂  That said though, it’s not some deep insight into how marriages fail or work but a really casual and fun film that everyone who’s ever been in a long term relationship can relate to.

Marriage can be tough … heck, life can be tough but it’s how we overcome the challenges that separates the wheat from the chaff.  That in the nutshell was what the movie was about.  That every marriage, like life has it’s ups and downs and it takes effort to make it work 🙂  With four typical couples reflecting the different strata of the relationship scale, there’s someone for everyone to see your relationship life through.  So whether you got married too young, have allowed the kids to rule your marriage, fallen in love with two people at the same time or simply just bored, there’s a something for you to take away.  Hope.  Every relationship can work, all it takes is a little time and effort.

If you have to ask, why put in the time and effort?  Well tonight, go home, snuggle with your other half and remember a time when she/he made your heart skip a beat.  That’s why 🙂
