I’ve finally found out why in the last 2 months, I was sick 3 times and the last bout of viral fever nearly impossible to fight :p My immune system has been compromised. Yes, that’s what the doctor told me. I have bad bacteria that has over grown what’s normal levels (apparently everyone has some amount of bad bacteria), a parasite (likely to be from India) and a virus (that explains the viral fever).
Since antibiotics feed the bad bacteria, doctor’s orders to kill the virus is lots of rest and fluids. A strict diet to to starve the bad bacteria and the parasite as well as stuff to kill them. More stuff to increase good bacteria. All in all, more then $150 worth of medication. Now I know why people say there’s nothing like good health.
So I had to see a nutritionist who gave me the lowdown on what I should do to starve the bad bacteria and the parasite. In the next couple of weeks I’m weaning myself of sugar, yeast, wheat, gluten, diary and fruits. Then I’ll start a 16day strict diet of only a combination of:-
- brown rice
- white rice
- millet
- quinoa
- any green leafy vegetables
- only brussel sprouts (no other sprouts)
- capsicum
- carrots
- radish
- beetroot
- onions
- garlic (apparently lots of raw garlic is good to kill the bad bacteria)
- zucchini
- peas
- celery
- cucumber
- eggplant
- any bean or legume
- artichoke
- ladyfingers
- asparagus
- broccoli
- cauliflower
- cabbage
- leek
- salt
- any herbs
- rice milk
- herbal teas (no coffee, black, green tea)
- rice based noodles
- rice flour
- only cold pressed oils
Once I start my 16 day diet, I’ll post up the menus and the progress so that if any of you want to try it, you’ll know what you’re in for.
Till then it’s one day at a time, more rest and fluids so I’m off to drink my water and then to bed. Take care y’all.

Woah I’ve been put on that strict diet too with also super expensive supplements which I don’t think I can afford once this is over. My diet is even stricter than yours coz I have bad acid reflux 😦 And my plan is for 3 weeks minimum too!
Did she give you those drops to put under your tongue? I haven’t started on those and I’m on Day 2 coz I’m terrified of the lethargy she warned me about… I’m such a bad patient.
I also can’t find any totally unsweetened rice milk.
Who’s your nutritionist? We should get together to exchange pointers leh.

Babe, I would say better start now. Your health is awaiting! It’d be worth it, trust me.
I’m on Day 4 and already finding it hard coz it’s like I have to suddenly become vegetarian while I had actually planned to gradually ease into it, heheh. As an existing vegetarian yourself, easing into this should be okay. Plus your food list is not as strict as mine, which is a good thing! 🙂
You just gotta watch the sweet stuff and wheat. Since you can take rice, I’d recommend you make risotto with tons of veges like carrots and broccoli. I made it once and really liked it. Also, make a big pot of vege stock and keep it in the fridge. It’s very handy for soups and risotto!
Among the dishes I made today – eggplant with garlic and a dash of parsley and lemon. Loved it!
