Do you know what you have to do when you get dumped with a note that’s slightly damaged? Well, my friend and I weren’t sure. In my mind, I just thought, “Take it to the bank, they should be able to change it for you.” Was I in for a little surprise? There we were in a UOB branch, and my friend handed over the note to the lady across the counter, asking if they would accept it.

She looked a little blankly at us and I clarified if they could change the note for us.

UOB Chick: Do you have the other portion?
Me: Nope.
UOB Chick: What happened to it?
My Friend: The taxi driver gave it to me like that.
(some discussion between UOB chick and her colleague, presumably her manager)
UOB Chick: We’ll need about a month to value it.
My Friend: A month?
UOB: Yes, and we’ll let you know then … … probably about $1.

Needless to say, my friend took her damaged and somewhat worthless $2 back. It’s now a nifty bookmark for me 🙂
