Tesscat lent me a horror book over the Christmas season. You read right, a h.o.r.r.o.r. book. Those who know me well, know horror isn’t my thing (supernatural stuff, sure … gory, blood slashing, brutal violence, no, not at all, thank you very much) but I thought avid reader, Tessycat can’t be too far off if she says a book is really good. I was a little apprehensive since the story is in the same vein as Battle Royale, a movie I couldn’t finish watching but I took a leap of faith and actually finished the book in 3 days.

Set in an unknown part of the world (later revealed to be outback Australia), a couple of loser Japanese find that they are cast for a snuff movie where they have to fight each other for their survival. I’ve learnt I can do gory books as oppose to gory movies, I simply skip the gory details in a book and I don’t have to contend with sound effects that stay with you after you leave the cinema.

I did enjoy the book but the ending was rather unsatisfying which has led me to think about an alternative ending. So I’ve tasked myself to adapt the book into a screenplay with an alternative ending. Anyone have the contact of Yusuke Kishi or his agent?
